Its main role is as follows:
1. The high quality PP woven prevent grass growth geotextile reduces the bond between the overlay and the old pavement. Studies have shown that with the interlayer, the bonding force at the original two-layer interface is significantly reduced, thereby reducing the maximum tensile strain of the overlay. Although the interface strength is reduced, it is still sufficient to prevent the relative displacement of the interface from being up and down.
2. Due to the high strength and large extensibility of the geotextile, it can act as a stress absorbing interlayer. The geotextile layer converts the reflected crack stress from the vertical direction to the horizontal direction and expands the stress to a wider range, thereby alleviating the stress concentration at the joint crack.
It dissipates the horizontal strain and transmits the vertical load, and enhances the overall tensile strength of the asphalt concrete and delays the generation of reflective cracks.
