The watch combines an 18-carat case with an octagonal black ceramic middle, creating an elegant contrast. This timepiece combines advanced technology, aesthetics and centuries-old exquisite craftsmanship.

The newcomer in the Super Sonnerie legend has a two-tone case made of 18-karat rose gold with an octagonal middle part made of black ceramic. All elements of the case are decorated by hand and feature exquisite decoration. The alternation of satin and polished bevels typical of the brand creates various light effects and highlights the multi-faceted structure of the watch.

The smoked sapphire dial reveals the complexity of the minute repeater mechanism and the super-self-sounding mechanism beneath it.
Rose gold details that echo the color of the case also adorn the dial, creating an elegant contrast. The rose gold hands, hour markers, “Audemars Piguet” signature and the gold thread of the small seconds hand are all achieved using a complex electroplating technology similar to 3D printing.

Turning the watch over reveals the solid case back engraved with a sonic pattern, a nod to the Supersonnerie sound technology within. A black rubber strap with a modern surface structure completes the piece.

The new Code 11.59 minute repeater is powered by the manually wound Caliber 2953 movement and features its own Supersonnerie technology, first introduced in the 2016 Royal Oak Concept RD#1. This masterpiece of microtechnology gives contemporary minute repeaters unprecedented acoustic performance, exceptionally fine sound quality, and the clear, harmonious sound of a traditional pocket watch.

Minute repeaters have gradually lost size and sound quality over the past few decades due to the demand for sportier, more robust and waterproof cases.

In order to restore the sound quality of the old striking mechanism, Audemars Piguet collaborated with EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne) to launch an eight-year project around sound issues to completely overhaul the case design and striking technology.

Inspired by the sonic properties of vintage minute repeater pocket watches and musical instruments, a dedicated team of academics, engineers, musicians, technicians and watchmakers developed the Royal Oak Concept RD#1 in 2015, thus launching a new minute repeater watch 2016: Royal Oak Supersonnerie concept watch.

Patented gongs, new housing structure and beat regulator guarantee excellent acoustic performance, outstanding sound quality and harmonious tone.
The gongs are not connected to the main board, but to an innovative component that acts as a soundboard and improves sound transmission. The improved shock adjuster eliminates unnecessary noise with its more flexible anchoring system. This innovative Super Sonnerie technology also allows for faster tempos, since the hour and minute chimes sound continuously when there is no quarter-hour sequence. A security feature prevents the user from changing the time display while the chiming device is activated.
